Fastbreak / Uptown is dedicated to improving the lives of children through the use of athletics and recreation.

"Participation in sports can be a catalyst for academic achievement and can help carry the student successfully to graduation and beyond”. Participation in team sports teaches teamwork, responsibility and dedication plus it boosts self-esteem and self-confidence."

Today's youth face innumerable challenges, especially in the inner city. Regardless of gender, race or background young people continually face challenges without the necessary support and guidance they need to overcome them.

Fastbreak / Uptown strives to provide young people the tools they need to successfully handle life’s obstacles through our "Scholorship Program " and our relationship with ""Success Through Association".

Fastbreak / Uptown provides scholarships to qualified children and their families each year to a variety of our programs including: Sports Leagues, clinics , tournaments, travel and AAU teams.

..........................THE "SUCCESS THROUGH ASSOCIATION" PROGRAM.........................

Success Through Association present a Cultural Diversity Initiative designed to provide underprivileged youth with opportunities and access to programs and resources they otherwise may not come in contact with.  Their goal is to expose inner city youth to valuable lifestyle fundamentals while encouraging social interaction through sports with youth from different ethnic backgrounds. 

Success Through Association was developed from the premise that success is determined by who and what people are exposed to.  Success is created by positive relationships and alliances with people who are successful.  The Success Thru Association program intends to serve people who have the determination, talent, and motivation to succeed but lack the resources to do so.

Fastbreak is teaming up to help the " STA" organizers . This first year program will offer multiple athletic scholarships for youth to attend the many different FASTBREAK programs.  Through "STA" and their outreach , participants throughout the city will be selected to be scholarship recipients.  Recipients will learn principals of sports training, physical fitness, teamwork, responsibility and self-control.  They will also develop social skills and gain experiences through the diverse extra curricular activities. 

Efforts to select participants will be through local Community Leaders and Partners, Schools, Programs, Churches and Parents.
