Fastbreak NYC Stall-out Team Turbo, 80-67
Fastbreak NYC aka/ Poly Prep was pretty evenly matched against Team Turbo a/k/a Paul Roberson HS. The first half would be an uptempo affair with PG Daryl Lucky running the turbo's point but also hitting the lion share of their buckets. While the first quarter was even-steven, Fastbreak NYC pulled ahead in the second quarter as Lowell Ulmer scored in the paint. With Patrick Jenkins adding offense, Turbo made a run at it. Outside shooting and transition points by Len Chenfeld kept Fastbreak up 42-36 at the half.
Fastbreak NYC increased their lead to 11 points early in the second half as Devon Brooks scored downlow but Team Turbo put on the afterburners and sliced the lead to three points as Lucky was on fire from midrange. Turbo managed to tie the game as Fastbreak NYC began to commit turnovers but Chenfeld assists and buckets down the stretch gave Poly Prep a 5 point advantage going into the fourth quarter.
The Fastbreak lead extended to 9 as 11 scored on a finger roll and consecutive jumpers 3 pushed the lead to 15 points with 4 minutes remaining in the game. With 3:20 remaining and down 17 points, Team Turbo inexplicably threw in the towel allowing Fastbreak to coast to a victory..
Devon Brooks led Fastbreak with 20 while Chenfeld, Ulmer, and Anthony Reyes scored 14. Lucky led Team Turbo with 26 points followed by Jenkins and Termaine Frazier with 13 apiece.
